Advanced Campaigning Masterclass

This course, led by Conrad Bird, Director of the GREAT Britain campaign and Jessica Pearce, Head of Campaigns and Strategy, Prime Minister’s Office, is aimed at highly-motivated communicators in campaigns roles.

Since its creation in October 2015, the GCS has run five Advanced Campaigning Masterclasses. These unique sessions have taken 50+ highly skilled campaigners through an intensive course, equipping them with the skills needed to become future Heads of Campaigns and Directors of Communications at the heart of government.

This immersive and hands on programme, spread over two half days in Whitehall, attempts to put participants in the campaigning mindset.

Who its for?

SIO to Grade 6 candidates who are:

  • Actively involved in campaigns as part of their current role (these do not have to include paid for marketing campaigns)
  • Fully familiar with and regularly use the OASIS framework
  • Fully familiar with EAST and Behaviour Change principles

Successful applicants must also have read ‘Campaign It’ by Alan Barnard and Chris Parker prior to the sessions.


By the end of the sessions, candidates will:

  • Feel more confident to work on campaigns under pressure
  • Have a taster of life in the Prime Minister’s campaigns team
  • Understand the importance of personal and departmental influence
  • Get detailed feedback on their personal presentation style and creative ideas
  • Be able to think strategically whilst ensuring attention to detail
