2018 has been a fantastic year for the GCS Internship programme. GCS has doubled the number of GCS interns, greatly increased outreach to universities, and were highly commended at the PRCA PR Internship Awards.
Our interns worked in 20 departments and agencies across government and in a range of disciplines, from digital communications to external affairs.
Read on for comments from Alex Aiken and an intern’s line manager on the benefits of hosting a GCS intern.
“I’m really proud of our GCS interns. We have had 45 talented individuals working across the GCS this summer bringing fresh ideas, enthusiasm and hard work to their projects. I look forward to seeing more great work from them in the future.” – Alex Aiken, Executive Director of Government Communications
“[Our intern] has quickly settled as a key member of our team; she has been conscientious, dedicated and shown real enthusiasm in her work. Her internship project presentation was excellent, demonstrating a clear understanding of OASIS and an ability to deliver to a very high standard – we were very impressed indeed.” – Alec Medaney, Senior Communications Manager, Cabinet Office
