Apply now for GCS Shadow Board

Wednesday 28 February 2018

Are you interested in finding out more about what topics are covered at Directors of Communication meetings? Do you want the opportunity to gain executive experience contributing your views to key decisions and projects?

Following the success of the pilot Shadow Board, applications are now open for the second round of the Board for 2018/19.

As part of our commitment to the GCS Diversity & Inclusion Strategy, the GCS want to be a communication profession representative of modern Britain, one that actively supports talented individuals to succeed.

The GCS Shadow Board will:

  • Provide an executive forum to hear from alternative voices that represent Modern Britain and better inform the actions and implementation of decisions through GCS governance bodies
  • Support the GCS commitment to build an inclusive profession offering home grown, diverse talent the opportunity to participate at an executive level.

The Shadow Board meetings will be chaired by Nicola Hudson (Director of Communications at the National Cyber Security Centre). The Board will meet approximately 6 times over the coming year and will have the opportunity to focus on specific GCS projects and act as a sounding board to GCS on issues of diversity and inclusion.

How to apply

We are encouraging applicants at grade SIO (or ALB equivalents) and above, with an interest in issues of diversity and inclusion. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from members of diversity networks and of varied backgrounds so that the Shadow Board represents as broad a range of views as possible.

Successful applicants will be appointed in preparation for the DoCs meeting 26 April 2018.

Interested applicants from the GCS should complete the brief form by midday, Friday 9 March.
