Businesses throughout the UK selected to work with Government on key campaigns

Monday 16 January 2017

The Cabinet Office has today announced the second and final list of businesses from across the UK that have been selected to help deliver ground-breaking government campaigns over the next four years.

The Government Communications Service finalised and published the list of communications agencies for the Communications Services framework on Friday, which will complement the Campaign Solutions Framework announced at the end of last year. The list covers businesses stretching from Glasgow and Aberdeen to Southampton and Devon and of the 67 agencies, 69% are SMEs and 44 are new to Government business.

These companies will now be eligible to bid and play key roles in cutting edge campaigns on topics ranging from public health to armed forces recruitment and promoting apprenticeships.

Cabinet Office minister Chris Skidmore said: “We are transforming the way we, and the wider public sector, buys communications support – making sure we are getting the best possible value for the taxpayer and have an increasing amount of flexibility and expertise.

“We also wanted to open up this framework to give more SMEs the chance to work with government and I’m very pleased to see that we have achieved that.”

Executive Director of Government Communications Alex Aiken added: “This is about bringing together the best of UK communications talent in agencies and public service to deliver world-class communications, which will inform, help and reassure people around the country.

“Our communications should be effective across the whole of the UK so I’m delighted to see 22 agencies recruited from outside London reflecting the whole of the UK including Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.”

This new framework, developed in conjunction with Crown Commercial Service (CCS), will complement the Campaigns Solutions framework successfully launched in December 2016. Together they will allow more collaborative working between government and agencies.

GCS involved around 600 agencies and ran five events across the country to shape the new frameworks in a way that will work better for everyone and benefit UK citizens.

In this financial year the GCS is expected to deliver around 100 campaigns. The expected value of this framework is up to £42m over four years and is open to the whole of government and any public sector body (such as museums and local government). Spending on government communications has reduced by £1bn since 2011 and we continue to keep costs down.
