Congratulations to Public Health England and NHS England who won the Communication Award at last night's event for their 'Stay Well this Winter' campaign
The campaign aims to ensure that people who are most at risk of a preventable emergency admission to hospital, like the elderly, are motivated to seek earlier access to community health services or better self-care.
The campaign succeeded in ensuring that there were an additional 1.85 million visitors to pharmacies in the winter of 2016-17 (600,000 ahead of target and a 45% uplift on the previous year), and that 70% of parents were aware that the vaccination for children is a nasal spray by November 2016. In addition, a tracking study that showed that known barriers to flu vaccination had been reduced, for example the proportion of parents mistakenly believing that the vaccination is an injection reduced from 37% pre- campaign to 19% after.
Well done to PHE and NHS England, and to all the other shortlisted entries in the Communication Award category.
