The GCS career framework is for everyone in government communications. It’s a useful guide that can help you develop your career, as well as improve your skills, raise professional standards and deliver outstanding campaigns.

The GCS career framework has been published this week. Developed as part of the ‘Our People’ strand of GCS 2020, the framework gives a snapshot of core communication disciplines as reflected in the MCOM model. It includes an overview of skills, experience and capability needed for different grades and job roles, as well as case studies from staff across departments and arms-length bodies (ALBs).
The framework is mapped to Success Profiles and can be used by everyone in the GCS as part of their Personal Development Plan, as well as by line managers and hiring managers. It signposts to the GCS professional development offer, learning and development which is available to all GCS members.
