Do you want to work on issues and policies you feel passionate about? GCS are now recruiting for Media Officer roles across government.
Chances are, government media officers are behind many of the news stories you have read, retweeted or blogged about today.
When you join the Government Communication Service (GCS), you will quickly find that no two days – or hours – are ever the same. That’s because we’re a proactive and innovative team of diverse communications professionals who thrive on supporting the government across a huge spectrum of issues that affect public life.
In our fast-paced media teams, you will be at the forefront of communicating a broad scope of economic, political, security and social issues that are being tackled by government departments and public bodies. Encouraging the public to engage with and develop awareness of these issues, you will work with a variety of influencers including journalists and bloggers to ensure the right messages are being received and understood. Developing departmental campaigns, managing press responses, drafting media materials, monitoring social media and handling press visits, you’ll be a key part of a dynamic and progressive media team.
The GCS is looking for strong candidates with experience in either a media or communications role or a background in journalism. You will have the ability to think creatively and communicate using a wide range of media channels to target the right audiences.
Our skilled and passionate media teams are keen to share their knowledge with you and develop the next generation of leaders within the Government Communication Service, so to discover more about where your career could take you, download the candidate information pack or visit Civil Service Jobs. The deadline for applications is Sunday 4th February, midnight.
