Heads of Discipline play a critical role in helping to raise standards and share best practice, and are a key leadership group in delivering on our GCS Strategy commitments. This is a role that can make a real difference to the capability and the leadership of our communication disciplines and we are grateful to the experts across GCS who give up their time to support this work.

Cabinet Office coat of arms letter with the following:
Dear Zara,Thank you for your interest in being a GCS Head of Discipline; I'm delighted to formally invite you to the role of Deputy Head of Discipline, Digital.
Heads of Discipline play a critical role in helping to raise standards and share best practice, and are a key leadership group in delivering on our GCS Strategy commitments. This is a role that can make a real difference to the capability and the leadership of our communication disciplines, and I am really grateful that you are able to protect some of your time to support our people.
We have made great strides as a profession in recent years - from delivering the first profession-based curriculum in government to our new GCS Strategy. I know you will bring your ambition and expertise to drive further improvement and collaboration across the GCS community - our departments, our agencies and our Arm’s Length Bodies (ALBs).
In terms of next steps: Look out for an invitation to the forthcoming Heads of Discipline meetings; We'll announce your appointment as soon as possible on the GCS website and via our comms channels, and, we will put the comms team in touch, but if you could have a short biography and a photo ready, that would be great; and, Your Head of Discipline will be in touch shortly.
I'm copying in: Victoria Stokes, Deputy Director for Functional Standards, Capability & Efficiency; Jo Pennington, Head of Functional Strategy, Accreditation & Efficiency who runs the Heads of Discipline group; Leah McTaggart, Deputy Director of our People team (which includes communications to members); Ed Bearryman, Head of Discipline, Digital.
We're all here to help you make a success of the role and Victoria and Leah’s teams can help you to deliver the
improvements needed across your discipline.
I'm really looking forward to working with you - my private office team will find some time for an initial chat over the next couple of weeks.
Kind regards and congratulations again, Simon Baugh, Chief Executive, Government Communication Service.
