Standardised job descriptions

On this page you will find templates of standardised job descriptions for roles in the government communications profession. You can download the job description templates and use them to quickly create your own job adverts.

This is part of our ongoing work to transform and standardise the recruitment process for each discipline within the profession, making it quicker, simpler and more inclusive.

The templates have been developed with Heads of Discipline and the GCS Resourcing Network, and are designed to:

  • assist vacancy holders with creating job adverts
  • help candidates assess their suitability for roles
  • speed up the recruitment process
  • make sure standards are consistent across the profession.

Note: The first set of job descriptions are for the media discipline. Further templates for the other disciplines are being developed and tested, and will be published in due course.

Send any feedback and suggestions to: gcs-recruitment@cabinetoffice.gov.uk.

To ensure you are using the latest version of the templates, always download the document from this website instead of saving it to your computer.
